A scrapbook for Anna and family

I created this book for Anna Friedrich's second birthday. Anna lives in St Louis, a seven hour drive from us. Luckily Mark and I were on our way to Colorado and could see the Friedrich family. The morning after our arrival was Anna's second birthday brunch. I created this scrapbook of her first two years.

While i was there created this great Elmo cake for her. It has been years since I'd created a cake like this. Some years ago I had plenty of experience with similar cakes bearing the likeness of Cookie Monster, Raggedy Anne, Mickey Mouse, Rainbow Brite and even Ghostbusters.

June was filled with summertime fun. Mark took a one week long food course in Boulder. We had such a great time there in the mountains.

May Project 12

During May our monsoon began to subside and school ended at the university. This month's offering has the very same format as the previous ones. Since it is spring, we have a dimenisonal flower and floral patterns.

Layout from sketch: First spring Cookout 2011

Here is the sketch challenge

Here is the layout. I used some older bold colored papers, vinyl, and felt trim. This cookout was during Susan, Jeff and Tiesto's spring visit. What a blast!

Layout from a sketch challenge

I don't often begin my process with a pattern or sketch. This time I did. Here is the sketch:

And here is the cool layout featuring some of my favorite people and the sweetest dog alive today! I love the result. It is fun to turn your creative process upside down. I'm thankful for my friends who also "get" this art form.:)
